Data Analysis HOW-TO

This video explains how to do the Angled Data Analysis exercise. It can also be found in the Help section.

  • All Silverlight exercises require the Silverlight plug-in for your web browser
  • The exercise is only active in full-screen mode

Steps

  1. Read the information available on the right side of the screen especially the number of indications
  2. Put the exercise in full-screen mode using the button on the bottom right corner of the exercise
  3. Press New Indication button
  4. Adjust the B-Scan range as needed
  5. Adjust the C-Scan range as needed
  6. Use the Scan Position to find the first defect
  7. Adjust Gate A to cover the entire indication
  8. Use the Angle to find the highest amplitude
  9. Press Get Max Amp button
  10. Position the vertical black cursor in the S-Scan in the middle of the indication
  11. Press X1 button
  12. For height calculation, use the angle to find the first -6 dB drop point
  13. Press Y1 button
  14. Use the angle to find the second -6 dB drop point
  15. Press Y2 button
  16. For length calculation, locate the Angle in the middle of the indication
  17. Use the Scan Position to find the first -6 dB point
  18. Press Z1 button
  19. Use the angle to find the second -6 dB drop point
  20. Press Z2 button
  21. Based on the Acceptance Criteria, accept or reject the indication
  22. If a second indication is present, start again from step 3
  23. Press Validate button
  24. If the analysis is correct the button Skip turns green. If not, it remains yellow
  25. Press Reset to start the exercise over.
